Visiting the grounds of Mebkin Abbey is like stepping back in time. The beauty is beyond belief. Check out their website… so much information! If you ever get a chance to visit, please do! You won’t believe what you see. Great gift shop too!

Oh this is going into my list of trees for my new series of sketches and paintings, I knew there was one in Charleston to see (Largest oak) similar to the Emancipation Oak here in VA (Norfolk) which I’m working on as well and another in Petersburg, VA. Do you know if this is available to see in person? What season was this taken in? I see another stop on my trip in the future!

    1. Gloria, Mebkin Abbey is open to the public, check out their website for hours, etc. This tree was in the public area (and many more) – this photo was taken in the Spring many years ago, I’m thinking it was May. Any time of year will be beautiful. Those grand oak trees are stunning ALWAYS!

      The Angel Oak (the very, very, very large oak) is beautiful, but the scenery at Mebkin Abbey is so breathtaking, and there is far more than one grand tree. I wish you the best of luck in your travels!
