Gulls by Trisha Adams 24×36″ Oil

Trisha Adams. These gulls are amazing. You can see their flight pattern is a bit tumultuous with the wild sea and blowing wind! Love the movement in this painting!

How important do you think an Artist’s Bio/Artist’s Statement is on their website? I think it’s one of the most important pages. The bio is your opportunity to learn a little bit about the artist – why they paint, what they paint, how they paint, who they paint with – some bios are fascinating, some funny, some heartwarming… I LOVE to read what started Trisha painting! Incredible!

Read a bit about Trisha, from her website:

A love of color inspires this California native.

I didn’t start painting until I was 44. It began innocently enough when I had an empty picture frame and I decided to make something to fill it. The next thing I know, painting is an obsession and here I am.

ARTIST STATEMENT

The paintings are representational with a dash of abstraction. My aim is not to render “objects,” instead I record the pattern of colored shapes. When I step back, the shapes coalesce into things, people and places. It feels like magic.

The painting is not a faithful portrayal of reality. Rather, it is my take on things. Just as a writer picks and chooses the details to include and the words with which to flavor or slant a story, I edit the content of the painting. Through exaggeration and editing, the visual joy of the scene is made clear.

Painting is a lifetime pursuit filled with discovery and experimentation. I invite you to share the journey with me.

Catch you back here tomorrow!
