Thankful…

Thanksgiving by Norman Rockwell

I posted this painting by Norman Rockwell many years ago. I just had to post it again, it’s a favorite. The family gathered, all smiling and laughing. The table set so pretty and an abundant amount of food.

This is what everyone’s Thanksgiving should be like. Inclusion. To be part of a loving family. So if you see that someone is left out. Whether they’re young or old, tall or short, green or purple, invite them over, or if they are unable, bring them a plate and stop to visit. Something that will take minimal effort could make someone’s day.

I recently read something written by a foster child, things that he wished for. It broke my heart. He wished for wonderful things like a family, love, and a home. But you can tell how much he has been through based on the way he phrased it. “A house with running water and lights”, a mom and dad that don’t fight, he wants no drugs, no lice, no bugs in the house. He wants help with school. He wants his own comb, and soap. He would like a safe AC/heater, a coat and a toothbrush. So when you think you don’t have what you want… think about this child. What can we do to make this stop. How can we help? Where can we volunteer? These children need to become a priority in life. It’s not their fault. They deserve a chance at a happy life.

Take a few minutes to truly be thankful for all that life has brought your way. Say a prayer, or think happy thoughts for those separated from their loved ones for whatever reason. Pray for that miracle to happen. #today

I’m thankful for every one of you who take the time to read my posts – Catch you back here tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Love reading your blog and posts each day … whether you are sharing a delicious recipe, beautiful art or a thought-provoking essay. Thanksgiving reminds us that we have so much to be thankful for. We should try to remember that each day.
