We Need An Island!

Seabrook Island – South Carolina – 2020

We are island people. We don’t live on an island, but we love them. We are in need of a getaway, it’s been a long, long, long time… It started with Mackinac Island (MI), and Harsen’s Island (MI), then morphed to Monhegan Island (ME) and Seabrook and Kiawah Islands (SC) – the pull of tranquility can be overwhelming at times. #thisisoneofthosetimes I took this photo last year on a day trip to Seabrook. We had the best time ever!

Spinach, Feta & Rice Casserole

Spinach, Feta & Rice Casserole

I saw this recipe, as I am always in search of a new recipe to try 👀 – something healthy as a good side dish, that could even stand on it’s own as a meal with a salad. #winwin This recipe is quick and tasty, and as I mentioned it’s full of healthy ingredients as well.

Heaven on Earth…

Monhegan Island (Maine) Sunset

As I’ve been saying for the past year and a half (at least)… This is an older photo. We’ve been dreaming of visiting this place we love, but this year just isn’t the year. Look at the magic! This was taken from the Island Inn on Monhegan facing Manana Island. Light on the island is so different. I have seen beautiful sunsets in my life, but nothing like I’ve seen on Monhegan!

Little Diamond House Plan by BrightBuilt Homes!

Little Diamond House Plan by BrightBuilt Homes

Stunning homes! Good design, smart use of space, well built and so classy. The Little Diamond is a very cool plan that has most of the living on the main level. There are many options for this plan which can increase space as well as bedrooms/bathrooms making this the perfect home for your needs. I love the covered area to the garage. Plentiful windows, beautiful garage doors and LOVE the front door as well!

Oh! How I wish we were here…

Fred | Monhegan, Maine

Everyone likes to be in their “happy place” – this is ours. Clearly, you can see the joy that we finally made it to the island (old photo, we will not make it there in 2021) – this is one magical place that has a strong magnetic pull for so many of us. Monhegan is a special place in so many ways, but mainly it’s the friendships we’ve made throughout the years.

Jasper Road House Plan by Our Town Plans for Southern Living!

Jasper Road House Plan by Our Town Plans for Southern Living

Who doesn’t love house plans? We all like what we like, some of us are traditional, some modern, some of us like large homes and others prefer smaller. Whatever your preference there are plenty of house plans out there. What I really love is that most architects/designers will allow modifications to plans, assuring that it is your very own special place. I don’t create these house plans, I simply share what I like, and sometimes mention what I would change to make a plan work for me. This is fabulous plan, I simply LOVE the front porch and the side screen porch. It would be so difficult to leave that space! #stunning

A Glimmer of Hope on Union Street!

Does a story instantly come to your mind? I can look at just about anything and come up with a story. It may not be the best story you’ve ever heard but I’ve never come up blank (yet). I do think the caffeine amount has to be just right, that may be the real key! I was writing a blip using the word prompt: Glimmer. When out spewed the start of a story. I quickly wrote two versions and ended up using the second version. This is my introduction into fiction, I have even more respect for real authors after trying a blip! (haha) – I may add to this story in the future… I admire real authors, planning is key, and there is no planning involved in this, just writing…

Dad’s Roses – A Favorite!

Dad’s Roses

My Dad grows the most amazing flowers, his roses are no exception. My parents live in Michigan, a much different climate than South Carolina. Dad’s STUNNING roses are peppered around the perimeter of the yard. I end up leaving with 1,000 photos of river, marsh, flowers and a few of people, sigh. Next time, I’m getting good photos of EVERYONE! I try each time, but no one pays attention, ha ha… #soon

Never Forget

9/11. Specifically, 9/11/2001. I don’t even need to type a description of the horror that occurred on that very day. There were heroes, I will focus on them. There were heroes that saved so many people while everything was happening, there were heroes after it occurred that searched tirelessly through rubble. One thing I know, we will never forget…

Enjoy your Labor Day!

Charlie enjoying his Labor Day poolside!

For those of you who have been putting in long hours out in the public – THANK YOU. I sincerely hope you get a chance to take a nice break today. This has been one heck of a year(++), and you deserve this time to recoup. This year should be a Labor Day on steroids! If you’re out and about, visiting a restaurant, store or other public venue, keep your patience in check, everyone is trying to get things done with limited staff. Most of what you may be irritated about is likely not the fault of the server, bagger, person at the register. #sobepatient

Absolute Perfection!

Alomestria

These flowers were in a bouquet that Fred gave me for my birthday. Each flower was stunning in its own way. As the bouquet got older, I pulled out the spent flowers and gave them fresh cuts and put them in smaller vases/jars. I put all the alomestria together and they were beautiful. I am mesmerized by flowers, it’s hard to stop taking photos of them. I love a…
