Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) – Amazing!

The Detroit Institute of Arts is an amazing place to visit. Wear comfy shoes because it’s HUGE and you’ll be walking for hours. There are even a few places to eat – because you will get hungry and your feet will get tired. Happily, you won’t notice it until after you leave, ha ha. This place is enthralling – it’s mind blowing how many important works of art are under one roof. What a responsibility!

We haven’t visited the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) in many years – so it was quite the treat. It’s located in Detroit, Michigan – There is convenient (very reasonable!) parking a short walk away. We went during the week, there were a few school groups there for the end of the year – but the place is so large that we only ran into them a time or two.

You can’t step close to the paintings or an alarm will tell you to step away. I took so many photos while I was there – I couldn’t NOT. I wanted to show you some of what I saw, so in the coming weeks, I’ll post a photo with a painting – and let y’all guess who it is. Answer will be in the post – so if you are reading this on social media, go to artfoodhome.com that day or tap on the link to the post on Facebook or Instagram.

I can’t wait to share with you some of what I saw!

If you’re in Detroit even for a short time – STOP in and take the time to absorb all this art from so long ago. It’s absolutely amazing.

There is always an exhibit – this time it was James Barnor (photographer – click link to read about him)! To become a member or to give a gift to the DIA, click HERE.

I’ll see you next Monday with a painting – woot, woot, I’m excited!

🖼️ Until next time…
