Can you guess the artist? Image taken at the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Can you guess the artist? This is the 13th installment of “Guess the Artist” from the Detroit Institute of Arts. What fun. I’m amazed how some of you guess the names of the featured artist. No easy task. Some of these paintings are quite old. Remember, the answer is below… so when you can’t guess any longer go ahead and take a peek! Magnificent, stormy painting – so much drama!

This painting sucks you right in. I love the castle, and the dog coming out of the dark shadows, the men, the landscape… wow! #whopaintedit #answerbelow

Description :

Artist Clyde-Joseph Vernet shows soldiers dwarfed by mountainous rocks and threatened by skies filled with dark storm clouds. While conveying nature’s majesty, the picture also impart a sense of urgency and tension. Will the soldiers make it to shelter? As they lean into the wind, about to be pummeled by the storm, their fates are uncertain.
