Can you guess the artist? This might be an easy one for some of you. Another gorgeous painting I snapped a photo of with my phone - on display at the Detroit Institute of Arts! I highly recommend visiting – wear comfy shoes – no need to pack a lunch they have great eating places within the museum. So smart. They even have these cool stools that fold if you get tired and need to sit a minute. We walked for hours and hours. Had the best time. #cantwaittogoback

A bit about this painting, that I read from the Detroit Institute of Arts:
This painting shows Matisse’s interest in other cultures inspired in the shapes, colors, designs and mood of his work. In this one, a four-fold Asian-style screen stand behind a Chinese vase with poppies
From his many visits to Morocco and the Moorish cities of Span, Matisse brought back clothing, rugs, and other items that he considered beautiful. Back in his studio, he created scenes that reflected his fascination with the colors and patters found in these cultures.
I think it’s so interesting to have a bit more information like the placards in the museum offer. One of the reasons why you can truly spend so much time in such a cool place!!
