I saw this on Instagram (@PBS) yesterday and it piqued my interest. The short answer to WHY do we have leap year is because the seasons wouldn’t match up with the calendar over time. So to keep the season accurate…
… the calendar was changed a bit to make up for the extra bit of time every year (there are actually 365.25 days per calendar year). #nowyouknow
More interesting information HERE from Brittanica.com – it amazes me that they came up with this all those years ago. Pre-Google 😉.
Leap Year or Not?
If the year is divisible by 4 – then it’s a leap year. BUT if you can divide the year by 100 AND 4, then it’s NOT a leap year. HOWEVER, if the year IS divisible by 400, it IS a leap year. (Info from BBC.com) – So there you have it! 🤯 Figuring if it’s a leap year (well, other than checking a calendar) Fascinating read HERE, from BBC.com!
I will stick to checking the calendar, hehe. Enjoy this extra February day – make it count!
🗓️ Catch you back here tomorrow – a house plan is on the agenda!
