
Head’s up in case you haven’t seen the signs regarding a new law going into effect in South Carolina. Beginning September 1, No Hand-Held Devices… What does this mean exactly? What do you think about it? See the details below. It’s called the Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Law and it begins a week from today, Monday, September 1, 2025.

Under the Hands-Free and Distracted Driving law, drivers are not allowed to:
- Hold or support a mobile device with any part of their body.*
- *This does not prohibit the use of an earpiece or device worn on the wrist used for voice-based communication.
- Use a mobile device to read, compose, or transmit texts, emails, app interactions, or website information.
- Watch motion on a mobile device, including a video, movie, game, or video call.
First offense is a $100 fine, second offense (within 3 years) is a $200 fine + 2 points on your driving record.
