Alison Barry. Alison is a Maryland artist and paints many breathtaking scenes in her surrounding area. She has so much inspiration in that part of the country!

I like the soft light and the foreground in this painting. The yellow on the barn interests me… I like that! Any detail that helps to tell a story is what I like. When you look at this painting close up it has great texture.

Painting and drawing have been my favorite pastimes since I can remember.  I started out drawing figures and portraits, and after years of focusing on people, I gave landscape painting a try and was immediately hooked.  I love looking for potential paintings in my surroundings, squinting to find shapes, values and compositions, even when I’m not painting.  Since moving to Southern Maryland in 2014, It has been my absolute driven desire to paint outside as much and as often as I can.  I paint mostly in my tri-county area of Calvert, St. Mary’s and Charles Counties, which each offer myriad painting fodder ranging from old tobacco barns to crab and oyster workboats.  I am given endless inspiration in this amazing place, and each season brings new challenges and adventures.
