Strawberries have been fabulous this year, despite some local crops having a hard time because of the weather we had a while back. Ugh, so much work goes into planting, planning, etc – I have some recipes that I’ve shared in the past for when strawberry season is in full swing. Take advantage of the good ones while you can. If strawberries are grown near you, try to support the locals!

Both of these recipes are pretty quick and are easy to make – resulting in a gorgeous and beyond delicious tasty treat.

The Strawberry Summer Cake recipe by Deb Perelman (the Smitten Kitchen blog) – a fabulous, not too sweet, absolutely perfect cake that doesn’t need a smidge of frosting. The strawberries inside this cake will take your breath away!

The Strawberry Shortcake recipe by Joanna Gaines that was featured in her magazine, Magnolia Journal. This recipe is perfection, I have to say. Follow her directions and you will have a smile on your face in no time! Great served with a little vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (real).
