Seriously, who knew chives were so pretty? My dad has a knack for gardening… to put it mildly – his backyard looks like it has exploded in gorgeous blooms – as well as veggies that are just about ready for the picking. Last time we visited I wandered through the backyard taking photos of his (then in the beginning stages) plantings. I came across this – how pretty, what is it? Chives. What?? I’ve got to get some, ha ha… Problem is, I eat mine.

What a great flower and hey, the bees like the chives quite a bit, so it’s a #winwin plant, right? Whether you eat it or not.

It’s a hot week across the South, and actually, heat is expected here, but there is high heat in so much of the country (And here, it’s not so much high heat as high humidity which makes it feel far warmer than the temp). If you’re experiencing this heat, drink a lot of water – stay cool and check on your neighbors. If you see someone in distress, call 911 and help them as much as you can. #ittakesavillage
