I have an amazing recipe for you – but… Oh y’all, my late fall images are suffering with these early dark evenings coming so early. You would laugh if you saw me make a recipe, early enough that there should still be light SOMEWHERE in this house as I run from spot to spot. I usually can find a little glimmer of light, nothing outstanding, but as I run from spot to spot, I’m sloshing and the image isn’t quite what I want it to be. End result is still the same. A recipe (usually someone else’s) that i’ve tried and loved enough to share with you. So on these chilly days I have the perfect Hot Chocolate Recipe… You aren’t going to believe it, I am thrilled to have found it!
This recipe is from the website A COUPLE COOKS, their recipes are winners every single time. I like hot chocolate, usually find it a tad too sweet. The recipes on the back of the cocoa containers just aren’t the best. So I tried this recipe. I will make this again and again. It was out of this world!
Here is the link to the recipe from acouplecooks.com – it’s divine, and you can click to their website to print if you need to, it’s short so I jotted it down. My sticky note version below, their post has a lot more information, tips, variations, etc, so check it out!
A COUPLE COOKS HOMEMADE HOT CHOCOLATE (How I made it)…
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips (I used Guittard)
Place a saucepan (heavy bottom is best) over medium heat. Add the cocoa powder and 1/4 cup of the milk. Whisk until the cocoa powder is combined. Whisk in the remaining ingredients. (Doing this step helps with the lumps!)
Add remaining ingredients (remainder of milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon and chocolate chips) and heat over medium heat until the chocolate is melted, about 2 minutes. Stir frequently and be careful not to boil it! Serve immediately. You can top with (real) whipped cream or marshmallows. We drank it as it was and it is perfection!
I think you’ll find this recipe to be pretty spectacular -we sure did!
☕️ Until next time…

This was so good!
