This is the cool (huge) owl that has fascinated our neighborhood day and night. He is remarkable and stoic. His head swivels, he meets your eyes – yet from quite a distance up in the trees. I don’t interfere with his thought process – I think he’s listening/sensing prey – he is always on high alert.

What a cool creature, a Barred Owl. they fascinate me. The first time we heard one it was right before Halloween. I heard the oddest sound. I asked my husband “Weird dog?” haha… he said “No, it’s a Halloween decoration making noise”. Then the owl made HIS NOISE again and we looked up and WOW. He’s a big one! I love that he’s here. Owls are so interesting. The only other owls I recall seeing were smaller, a different type, that make the typical hoo-hoo owl sounds.
