Let me start by saying the past few days (and the next week) have been sunny and beautiful. Today we will experience the coolest temps IN SIX MONTHS! That’s a long time to wait for cooler weather! I doubt it’ll stay this way for too long. It’s not too chilly, highs are still in the 70’s. I’m doing a happy dance regardless.
A week or so ago we had several days of rain, many of you had this same storm system as it moved up the coast. At first it seemed to be ok, drizzle, let up, rain, let up and then it turned into nonstop rain coupled with King tides, full moon and whatever else that could increase risk of flooding. We were fine at our house, but downtown Charleston, SC had many (usual) areas of flooding (it’s not called the “lowcountry” for nothing…). This photo taken on the last day of rain as we headed to the store – you can see the swelling of the water. High tide, much higher than usual.
Day three of rain and you know it’s starting to get to people when you run into your neighborhood at the local grocery store, ha ha – the second sign is when you start baking – something I always do during a weather event, must calm the nerves somehow. (RECIPE coming on Monday, and it’s a good one!)
As a kid, I loved the sun. As an adult, I love a good cloudy day, especially when we have “nice rains”. The silver lining (if you need one) was that we discovered that our raincoats are not waterproof, haha. After a few days being inside we needed to get a walk in. Rain had stopped and we headed out and of course, it started raining. Might as well keep going, we’re already wet. But waterproof or water resistant won’t matter unless the coat is long or you have rain pants on as well. My water resistant coat did OK. A few areas of my shirt were wet, but from where the coat ended and my pants began was soaking wet. It still felt great to get out and move!
✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!
👩💻 Until next time…
