Best of Broadway: MJ the Musical! 5⭐️

Playbill for MJ the Musical

Would you like a night out on the town at a nice venue with good parking? Look no further. We just saw the MOST AMAZING show in Charleston, SC. Around April of 2025 we decided instead of buying gifts all year for each other for holidays we would buy season tickets to the Best of Broadway series. I’m so glad we did! The shows have been exceptional, and MJ the Musical was OVER. THE. TOP. good!!!

Stage for MJ the Musical before the show started.
The transformations that this stage took were AMAZING!

All I can say is my hands hurt from clapping and my face hurts from smiling! The cast received a standing ovation in a full house for a loooong time! The audience was enamored. Blown away. It was like Michael Jackson himself appeared on stage with the theatrics to go along with his entrance. Jordan Markus played the part of Michael. This man is so talented it’s hard to fathom. I believe he really studied Michael Jackson, every nuance – because he totally BECAME MJ. His voice (speaking and singing), his moves (perfection) and the FEELING. Melvin Gray, Jr. who played “little Michael” stole the stage. It’s unbelievable how someone so young can be SO good! Brandon Harris was Michael (Middle Michael) – another perfect casting situation. I can’t list everyone, but when you have the Playbill and you read about Who’s Who in the Cast – you’ll see what I mean. I love checking their Instagram accounts because many post before/after quick videos, it’s amazing all they do.

THE DANCERS! They are SO limber. They can move in ways that barely seems possible. In the beginning the cast is stretching on stage. Stretches and movements like 🤯, wow, all so professional. From those of you who remember FAME (the movie and the TV show, I know I’m dating myself) – it’s reminiscent for sure! What a workout. Absolutely incredible.

I don’t want to leave out the COSTUMES, SETS, LIGHTING, BACKSTAGE people and everyone else who put this show together. The scenes quickly change and what they can achieve in 0.1 seconds is utterly remarkable. If you can get a ticket to the Charleston, SC show sometime this weekend (tonight, 2 shows on Saturday and 2 on Sunday (North Charleston Performing Arts Center), I HIGHLY recommend it. We were in the orchestra where you could see every facial expression and that really took it over the top. I bet this show would be excellent from ANY seat.

This show quickly transported some of us to another time. When MJ was a young little boy and could sing and dance like a star to his teenage years and focused on his 1992 Dangerous Tour (iconic moves included!)

I left this show thankful that I was familiar with MJ music. That I was able to watch countless hours of his music videos on MTV before MTV became so different. That may be way back in time but what memories! He was known as the “King of Pop” for a reason, right?

🎶 Until next time… ✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!
