Let sleeping dogs lie, quite literally in this case. The sun was streaming in, Charlie had his walk checked off the list and a full belly. He happily hopped into his bed, tucked himself tightly and fell asleep. How nice to be Charlie! Now, let’s talk organization… I have a simple strategy for tackling a big (or small) job. Closets, drawers, you name it. #letsgetitdone
Today is normally a day I feature a house plan, but today is a day of catch up so I can clean out closets, drawers, etc. I find that I feel much better without a lot of stuff around me. I know there are those who disagree, and that’s ok. If things get out of control (closet) then I feel the need to pull everything out 🙂 go through it and make several piles. KEEP, DONATE, TOSS. It’s a strategy that has worked well all these years. It’s amazing the stuff you set aside to look at later, keep in case you need, keep for someone else… no, no, no. Just toss it, or pass it along to someone who can use it.
KEEP the stuff you love, not the stuff you wish fit/has holes/are saving for someone/because someone special gave it to you or a myriad of other reasons. If you wear it/use it – keep it. If it has sat in your closet 6 months to a year without being touched… Let it go.
DONATE the stuff that is in good shape (clean, without holes, etc.) that someone else could use.
TOSS the stuff that no one can use/isn’t in good shape.
Wow, you’ll be surprised at how much you can get rid of and it feels so good. Now go tackle something, be it a closet or even a drawer. We have a way of accumulating “things” with the intention to think about it and decide whether or not to keep, but “things” get stuck in a drawer or closet and the rest is history! #ahhhicanbreatheagain
One year we went through Christmas totes and pulled everything that wasn’t special to us. Sent out an email or posted on Nextdoor for our neighborhood (forget which). Set it by the road and it was fun to see kids and parents alike going through picking out what they wanted. *Poof* It was gone and I didn’t have to figure where to drop it off.
Do you have a strategy that works well for you? I like to keep our brains young by moving drawers around in the kitchen too, ha ha… I can make my husband crazy (as well as myself). Even a simple change like moving the coffee maker to a different area can feel so good, add a small lamp to the counter to warm things up. #whatfun #wherethehellaretheforksnow #haha #goodtimes
🍀I hesitate to mention this, but y’all do realize that today is Friday, the 13th of January, right? #fridaythe13th
Let’s make this a good luck thing instead of bad luck. #changethewayyouthink ✅
