Featured Artist: Sue Fawthrop!

Garden Cafe by Sue Fawthrop | 20×20 cm | Gouache

Sue Fawthrop. An artist located in the UK with the most fabulous paintings. She paints with oil, acrylic and gouache (and probably everything else!) – this particular painting is gouache. I love the way gouache shows such nice details with light. A cool tree – love the umbrella – this makes you want to be wherever this is located. A garden cafe on a beautiful day. Perfect!

Besides the bio below, I love the bio on The Gallery at 41’s website. (Click the link and select BIO at top left to read it) – I enjoyed reading about Sue’s delight with plein air painting bugs and all, ha ha. So true, paintings do tend to end up face down on the ground on a windy day, ha ha. She’s got a great attitude!

About the Artist (via Sue’s website):

“Sue’s work is about mood and atmosphere, inspired by the landscape and coastal areas of Dorset and further afield. She draws and paints directly from the subject, responding to changing light, weather conditions, sounds and transitory events.

Her interest is in creating an exciting image with a sense of mystery, leaving some questions unanswered for the viewer to explore.”
