Art: A quick sketch at The Swag!

Art: A quick sketch of the Swag

Who doesn’t love art, right? Art enriches our lives in so many ways. It promotes creativity, makes people happier and it can be used to hold on to special memories. We often buy a piece of art when we visit a new location and see someone capture it well. It’s a remembrance so that every time you look at that painting (or photograph, sculpture, etc.) it brings back a good time. You always have the chance to create your own art…

Please don’t say you can’t draw. If you can write your name on a piece of paper you can draw. It just takes practice – and I don’t have a lot of time for it, usually on a vacation I’ll do a sketch or two, sometimes at night – it’s a form of meditation, right? Sketches are meant to be quick in my opinion (this one took about 5 minutes), a drawing would be more precise, but I have photos, so I don’t necessarily want perfection – I want the vibe of this fabulous location, the feeling, the quirkiness of the tree. It was difficult to get what I wanted into the sketch on the small screen of an iPhone, so you may want to try this on an iPad if you have one.

I did this quickie sketch on my phone with my finger using the Freeform app (on my iPhone), which is more than just sketching. I was sitting at our favorite table on the porch at The Swag in Waynesville, NC looking towards the main building, the trees are so whimsical… So I sketched it. The good thing about sketching is that you can leave anything out or add anything in – make it your own! Give it a try! Any sketching app will do. The Swag is an inspirational spot to sketch, paint, draw and photograph – one stunning scene after another!

I am not an artist, just a human that likes to sketch. Give it a whirl, I think you’ll like it. If using paper, try sketching with a Sharpie – I love the bold lines. #funfun

Happy weekend!!

✍️ Until next time!

    1. Oh, Susan! I can only imagine what you would have come up with – the scene is stunning. The tree has so much character – it was fun, I’m not an artist, but love to sketch, especially with phone, ha ha… easy erasing ;) Thank you friend, you made my evening!
