A Book To Read – THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah!

Every once in a while a book comes out that is so special I just have to share with you. I haven’t read a book by Kristin Hannah in the past so this was a treat. Her writing flows so well, from the first page you are drawn in and there is no hope of escape. This book is on my “To Re-read” shelf (one day). There are only a handful that makes it to that coveted spot.

THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah (link). I don’t want to re-read every book I love because there are so many. But this book was different. It takes you to a different place and time (which isn’t my typical genre). Please don’t be like me and think, ugh – that book is set in the time of the Vietnam war – it’ll be depressing. It’s realistic. But more than just facts it shows the human side of war. It shows what they went through, their stories, their lives, as well as life after they come home. Go read this book, you will be a better person for it.

My review on Goodreads:

This. Book! It blew me away. I couldn’t put it down. I have read so many people recommend this book to read in online reading groups. I checked it out and thought, not for me… I don’t want to read something sad, or during war time, or, or, or… each time I would see someone mention it yet again – I would pop back and remember, nah, not for me.
I was wrong. Thankfully, my SIL passed this book to me. I asked her if it was sad (knowing it was) she said, yes, but it tells a story – a story that needs to be told, it shows how much women did during that horrific period. How it’s not all roses – the reality of war, the aftermath, the loss of fellow soldiers, the loss of self. Don’t be like me. Go read this book. You will be so glad you did. I don’t have many books that I want to reread one day, but this is at the top of the list. #blownaway
I look forward to more of Kristin Hannah’s books, the way she writes is so easy to read, you are literally engulfed in the book and cannot get out. #wowWowWOW
