Halloween Memories 👻

Charleston photo taken years ago – it has a nice Halloween vibe!

Happy Halloween! 🎃 It’s a day kids dream about – I remember it well (all those years ago!) going trick or treating with my sister. My mom would stay home and pass out candy and my dad would walk with us while we sang out TRICK OR TREAT and collected our candy. #goodtimes Although, my costume was usually upended by wild weather, therefore turning me into…

… a SAILOR. Good idea, mom, ha ha. We would have our costumes on, which consisted of a layer of long underwear with the costume on top (Midwest girl here), then as we would just about head out it would start raining. Well, that didn’t stop trick or treaters. On came the rain boots and raincoats. I was so upset one year, “what am I supposed to be now, no one can see my costume” to which my mom quickly replied, “You’re a sailor!”. Off came the raincoat and on came the foul weather jacket of my mom’s (for use in bad weather when out sailing). #turninglemonsintolemonade

After trick or treating we would head back to the house where we would roast the pumpkin seeds that were pulled out of the pumpkin. They were delicious! Then for weeks afterwards I would bribe my sister (because she would eat all of her Halloween candy immediately and I would save mine) with my Halloween candy to clean my room, etc. Hehe… #benefitsofbeingtheoldersibling

I’m dreaming about the day AFTER (this particular) Halloween. You’ll see why tomorrow, hehe…
