Architectural Splendor: 54 Tradd Street – Charleston, SC!

Historic home, with flags, hurricane bolts, worn patina, beautiful windows boxes with flower.

Isn’t this a stunning example of historic Charleston, SC architecture? The level of detail is astounding. The fact that this home remains so gorgeous nearly 285 years later is mind blowing. I love the aged patina, the black shutters, windows and doors and the beautiful window boxes that make this house pop!

54 Tradd Street was constructed circa 1740 by William Vanderhorst. What a remarkable example of a Charleston single house (as you’ll see via this link – click HERE). 54 Tradd Street was “one of the earliest examples of Charleston single house. A notable aspect of the building is the absence of a piazza, a development found in single houses of a later period.

Truly, check out the link, it’s fascinating!

Charleston works hard to save our beautiful buildings (thank you to the Preservation Society of Charleston and Historic Charleston Foundation for their efforts, as well as the countless preservationists in this city – you help to keep it looking beautiful).

Hopefully, there will be a way to continue preserving the historic neighborhoods outside of the peninsula. #itstime

👩‍💻 Until next time…
