bright and happy abstract painting, Carol Bass Art Show, celebration of life and work, Thursday, July 31, 2025 5-7PM at Merrill Memorial Library

The Show Is Up!!

The show has begun at Merrill Memorial Library (215 Main Street, Yarmouth, Maine) – so if you’re in the area or can be in the area, this is a show not to miss. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 5-7PM. Carol loved life, her family, art and oh, did she love color!! For those of you who can make it to the opening reception, “Please wear your brightest colors”! I love this!

Details from Merrill Memorial Library HERE!

I saw an Instagram story that was shared that said her partner in life, Bob Newton (check out his website!!) created handmade frames for some of her paintings that will be for sale (unless sold out) – they encourage you to all stop by and enjoy.

We bought a piece of Carol’s work years ago – it makes us smile (and think of her) every time we pass by. Art has a way of creating memories, bringing happiness, lifting a mood. Especially Carol’s bright and happy paintings. From Carol’s obituary, I think this is so beautiful:

“Her family asks that you remember her by taking quiet time each day to be in nature and observe wild birds and flowers, to think of her while riding, walking, or running with the wind in your hair and sun on your face, or while breast-stroking at your favorite swimming hole or ocean cove. She loved curling up with a hot cup of tea and a good book or enjoying a cold gin and tonic with lots of lime on a hot summer afternoon with friends. She would want all of us to make time every day to create—knit, paint, build, sew, throw, write—and give away our work to friends.”

I told you… she was a special person! The celebration of Carol’s work will be up through August!
