I love this photo. Wouldn’t you agree that this image embodies the true joy of the Christmas season? The simplicity of how it’s done amazes me. The simple beauty of the Christmas lights against the river and the nighttime sky = a scene I treasure. How are you decorating for the holiday season?
When I was a kid, the blow up yard adornments weren’t invented yet, but there were the thick plastic Santa’s, snowmen, etc. They looked cool against the white snowy blanket that covered the ground with hints of color from the Christmas lights on the house. We didn’t have them, but I do remember seeing them. Once in a while we would have a real snowman, and that was the best.
My dad always put Christmas lights on the front of our childhood home. I would lay in bed at night and look at those lights. Such magic. I LOVED this time of year. I’m very blessed to have parents that made Christmas so special growing up. Not in a “you-get-anything-you-want” kind of way, more in a feeling of the magic of the season. The Christmas cookies, and just family traditions that make it all so special. Like the year Santa’s footprints were on the living room carpet. We couldn’t believe we JUST MISSED HIM!
My dad creates a tree by the river each year and sends me a photo – so photo credit goes to my dad! (Thanks, Dad!) How brilliant to use an outdoor table + umbrella to string the lights to make the tree. From the house you only see the tree! 🔴🟢🟡🔵
You too can make Santa’s footsteps: Baby powder that “melts” away – (once rubbed into the carpet).
It’s the little things. Thanks to my parents for an awesome childhood. Best Christmas gift ever!
Hope you’re being as festive as you can be – and if you aren’t up for it, it’s ok! 🙏
☃️ Until next time… ✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!
