Well, it seems as if spring is about to spring in Charleston, SC! One of our azaleas is blooming, camellias are always in bloom this time of year, and the garden stores are full of stunning and colorful plants. I know our garden centers get CrAzY around here, like we all need to get some pretty things planted after our long, hard winter (hehe). It IS always exciting to do just that! The anticipation of what you’ll find and how it will transform a space is always so much fun!

Good chocolate when baking makes a difference!

Sometimes the smallest changes can change the results of a recipe, especially when baking. Always try to use the highest quality ingredients for recipes that matter (i.e. in a brownie recipe, where chocolate is the main flavor). I almost didn’t purchase this because “the other baking bars” that I’ve used since I was a kid have worked just fine. Until…

Married twenty nine years to the love of my life. Fred is the sweetest. We are partners for life in every way. I cannot imagine spending life with anyone but him. We met years ago, clicked right away, and the rest is history. We are probably different than most couples – we like spending time together, ha ha. This is our story…

My Summer Book List
Beach reads 🏖 this time of year are the go-to book on many of our book lists. I like to hear what y’all are reading! Drop me a message via the CONTACT ME button above, or via a comment on my website (this post), Facebook or Instagram. The one genre I’m not big on is horror. Good grief, I don’t even watch the nightly news 😉 So if you have any great suggestions, let me know!!

Aren’t these the coolest? One of these was given to me years ago and I love it. I place a small tea light (with a base so there is no cleanup) and light it. When friends and family members need special prayers I light it. Reminds me of lighting a candle at church. We met recently with an antique dealer, she told us what these are called, do you know?

I looked at my phone to read my post for today… Surprise! There was no post! 🤦♀️ I flipped through my recent images and found this photo of an old stool that I took. Our home has a mix of Mid-Century Modern classics, a few antiques (gorgeous pine and some other pieces). I love our mix of old and new.

I LOVE well made items. A dog collar, from the nicest feeling leather that will hold up for a very long time and is able to get wet (this company KNOWS dogs love water), it’s just so sharp, I think, if you have a dog, you will be very interested! I just happened to have a model, although he’s a hairy little guy so it took about a zillion photos before I could see the collar. This is one sharp collar, especially with the GC stamp – very classy!

These are actually called Christmas Butter Cookies – my family pulled the recipe out of a magazine back in the way back in the 1960’s and we’ve made them ever since. Five stars! Not only are they so tasty, but they are so much fun to make and especially to decorate. I can remember good times decorating one at a time (like tinsel on a tree, one piece at a time)… #whorememberstinsel?

I unrolled my yoga mat on the floor, sat down, looked up and this is what I saw… This is one of the coolest fixtures ever – I HIGHLY recommend! It looks good in any and every room. Designed by George Nelson and produced by Herman Miller.

So many milestones this year… married 28 years – in our house 25 years – and another birthday (earlier in the month). Whew, does time ever fly! So thankful for each and every day! I’m sharing “our story”…

Ahhh, a good book, is there anything like it? Especially during trying times like we’ve seen in 2020. Reading is the great escape, you can travel to faraway lands from the comfort of your chair with an iced tea in your hand. #winwin
