Stan Moeller. Nice guy, great artist… and FANTASTIC web site! I love this painting… GULLS (18 x 24, oil on linen panel) – I love the lights and darks, the movement and the water in the background… Check out Stan’s website at www.stanmoeller.com it’s full of information, paintings, workshop schedule, gallery links, etc. If you haven’t seen Stan’s work before, CHECK IT OUT!
I love this poster! Artist Michael Schwab has created this poster for the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.
“Every year, thousands of cancer patients stay for free at American Cancer Society Hope Lodge facilities when receiving treatment away from home.” JUST. IMAGINE. Going through something so difficult and being far from home. What a wonderful idea Hope Lodge is!
You can order a poster, a limited edition print or wrapping paper. You can also use this as wallpaper or send an e-card (both free), check it out by clicking HERE.
The Charleston (SC) Farmer’s Market is on Saturday’s at Marion Square from 8AM until 2PM. For more information, click HERE. It’s a good time with lots of good vendors, fresh fruits and veggies, both organic and conventional as well as arts, treats and pretty much everything else you can imagine.
This years poster entitled PETER PIPER’S PEPPERS by Ginny Versteegen captures the essence of the Farmer’s Market perfectly. A great souvenier if you’re visiting, or nice to hang in a poster frame in kitchen! If you get a chance, check it out!

This painting entitled LEGACY is awesome. Anyone who’s been to Monhegan likely will remember this beautiful lobster boat!
A wonderful artist to keep an eye on is Bridget Jennings. You can look at Bridget’s paintings for a while and always see something fresh and new. Her Mackinac Island paintings are so happy (AND such a great souvenier, better than some old bauble that’s going to get tossed into the first garage sale pile!) and bright. Her light and almost whimsical airiness gives the store front paintings such character. Bridget lives and paints in Algonac, MI where she grew up on the river and her local paintings reflect her love of the water. There are boats everywhere in Algonac, and Bridget can paint them! Check out her website!
Below are three of her paintings, the first one is DOCKED UNDER THE WILLOWS (Algonac, MI) the second is KILWIN’S FUDGE SHOP (Mackinac Island, MI) and the last one is MONHEGAN MOORING (Monhegan Island, ME), it’s a small taste of the collection that she has painted! Enjoy!

Bridget is more than a great artist… she’s my sister, and she’s the best!
Leo Brooks was an amazing artist. His paintings are so loose and fluid. According to the bio, in his later years he painted to take his mind off the worry of his health problems.
For those of you who have been to the Island Inn on Monhegan Island, ME you will recognize his style. There is an amazing piece of his work in the lobby.
Don Stone. Many of you have heard this artists name. He is extremely talented and among all his paintings, this is my all time favorite. My husband and I have loved this painting for what seems like ever. I love the pop of orange! This painting makes you feel as if you’re standing on the boat right next to this man. This painting is at Cavalier Gallery. The artist also has his own website http://www.donstone.com – if you’re on Monhegan Island in the summertime and Don is there, stop by his studio, what a treat!
What a beautiful painting! This is EVENING PEONIES by artist Nancy Hoerter. Nancy is so talented, her work is stunning. For those of you who read my blog you know that we like to buy art from artists we actually LIKE. Those with a lofty attitude, hmmm, I lose interest in their paintings. Nancy is one of those people you like from the moment you meet her, you simply cannot help it! She’s hilarious, kind and oh so talented. Her work is at the Horton Hayes Gallery, stop in and check out her work! You’ll be glad you did!
Catch you back here tomorrow! Check out my photo blog if you get a chance!
We often search our favorite galleries online, especially when the gallery isn’t near where we live. It’s SO NICE to be able to see what the gallery has to offer from the comfort of your favorite chair! Bayview Galleryhas two locations, one in Camden and one in Brunswick, Maine. There is an artist Ron DeFelice that has some wonderful work. We haven’t seen Ron’s work in person yet, but it’s on our list next time we make it to Maine! Check it out if you get a chance!
Here is a blip straight from the Bayview Gallery website: After graduating from RISD with a BFA in Illustration, Ron deFelice worked for many years as a freelance illustrator in the New York city area before going to work for Walt Disney Feature Animation. Still in the animation business, and with many film credits to his name, Ron brings a keen eye for light and color to his plein air painting.
Another Pierre-Auguste Renoir quote for the weekend. Did you realize that Renoir and Claude Monet were good friends? Matter of fact Renoir is quoted as saying (regarding Monet)…
Without him I would have given up.
~Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Can you imagine if Renoir would have given up? Eek… Be a friend, mentor someone, let people know the good things they do so they keep on doing them!
Work lovingly done is the secret of all order and all happiness.
~Pierre-Auguste Renoir
This painting makes me smile. My mom and dad sent me a birthday card last year with this image on the front and the sweetest words on the inside of the card. Pierre-Auguste Renoir was talented and boy did he ever paint! Even in his later years when arthritis and rheumatism caused him such pain, he used bandages to secure paintbrushes to his severely deformed hands. Now THAT is dedication…
So dedicate yourself to doing what makes you smile… catch you back here tomorrow!
Don’t you just love this painting? I bet you can recognize where it’s at with a quick glance… Yep, you guessed it… Monhegan Island, ME. My husband Fred and I discovered yet another wonderful artist last year while we were in Maine. His name is David Lussier and he was giving a workshop at the time. Wonderful paintings. He’s from Woodstock, CT. Check out his website if you get a chance. He gives workshops and has a fantastic blog entitled MY PAINTERLY APPROACH. David’s wife Pam is also an artist, check out her work as well! Catch you back here tomorrow!
Mary Whyte. Many of you have heard of her. She is utterly spectacular. The talent is scarely amazing. I’m not kidding. Every single painting is museum quality. To watch her paint is a real treat. Mary often participates in the outdoor paint out in Charleston held in November, where the artists donate the painting from the day and it’s auctioned for charity. Wonderful! Mary’s work is in Coleman Fine Art Gallery. If you’re in the area, it’s a beautiful gallery full of amazing talent, I highly encourage you to visit! Otherwise check her out on their website! Mary has also written books, has DVD’s and has illustrated some children’s books that are simply magical.
I discovered Darrell Hill on Facebook. I have yet to see his work in person, but I think it’s simply AMAZING. I love his style, how he’s so different from everyone else. I am drawn to his color palette and I love how this painting “Outrigger Song” has that crisp clear look to it. I would absolutely LOVE to own a piece of his work one day, but for now I will read all the information that he shares. He is definitely a man who knows a lot about art. I saw some of his iPad drawings when he first got the iPad (if I’m not mistaken, the very day it debuted) and ohmygosh are they ever unbelievable! Talented beyond belief. We can’t wait to see his work in person one day!
