Aren’t these flowers just gorgeous? This photo was taken years ago while Fred and I were in San Francisco, CA. This is THE BUD STOP… wildly beautiful flowers! They’re located on Union Street right near Fillmore… Speaking of Fillmore Street… best place that we ate lunch… THE GROVE FILLMORE, I had done a previous post on this place, but it’s worth mentioning again!

A day in Rockville, SC
A day in Rockville, SC

Several weeks ago, my sister was in town. We hit all the galleries, many restaurants, then headed to Charleston Tea Plantation and Rockville to snap some photos. I’ve written about the tea plantation before… the landscape… STUNNING. Like Rockville, there are huge, very old live oak trees. The setting seems like it’s way back when…

Rockville, SC retains that captured in time feel. There isn’t a store or a restaurant or really anywhere to go in Rockville (unless you belong to the yacht club), but it is a great place to snap photos (especially if you’re into photography, or if you’re an artist… whoa!). Subject matter galore! So… if you’re ever heading out that way… BRING YOUR CAMERA (bring spare batteries as well… I speak from experience)!

Charleston Photo… A walk downtown…

Charleston, SC

Some of the homes in Charleston, SC are so beautifully maintained. I’ve noticed several instances of this orangey color, I love it!

Man watering window boxes

Nice man we met watering his window boxes… stunning color on this house!

Bright and bold door

Now this is a bright and bold door… this was taken on Easter. Everyone had beautiful window boxes… it was a joy to walk around! Enjoy your weekend!

Charleston Photo: Broad Street’s Golden Light

Broad Street's Golden Light

LOVE THIS GOLDEN LIGHT! This is the light that makes everything so beautiful! This is a popular painting spot… on Broad Street looking towards St. Michael’s Church. The gorgeous light and the shadows make this an interesting photo (or painting)… Reminder to self… pick up a brush. It’s on my list ;) of things to do!

Enjoy your day, see if you can find some golden light somewhere!  Catch you back here tomorrow!

Photo Weekend: Charleston… a walk downtown…

For those of you who aren’t from Charleston… these shots are taken near Hominy Grill. Now if you’ve been to Charleston, SC you’ve most likely been to Hominy Grill. Nice restaurant, great breakfast, haven’t been there for dinner, but I’m sure it’s all good! If you take a walk around that area you can see the most amazing things. For instance, this house. You wouldn’t believe how narrow it is, but how incredibly charming is it? It’s quite like a treehouse! And lucky for them, they can walk to Hominy Grill!

This also happens to be very near the Ashley Hall Private Girl’s Day School. A prestigious school in Charleston that dates back over 100 years! Their grounds are beautiful from what I could see!

Look at this unique building on the Ashley Hall campus! I believe it’s called the Shell House? Very interesting! Take time to walk around and see what YOU discover!

Charleston SC Photos: Gardens of Charleston

It is the exception, not the rule to have a large yard when you live in downtown Charleston, SC. For the most part the yards are very small. However, there are a few homes that have extensive yards that are just breathtaking. In the shot above my lens was poking through a fence so I was limited as to what I could snap a photo of… GORGEOUS!

Look at that! Magnificent! Someone stays very busy keeping that looking so perfect. What a treat for the eye!

What a great size yard! Especially if you have someone to maintain it!

Charleston Photo: Italian Cypress Trees = Dramatic Photo

Dramatic, eh? Photo taken while walking around downtown (Charleston, SC)…

I need to get up and go take photos early or late in the day… this was more around noon judging by the bright light, but you can still see what a cool place Charleston, SC is… everywhere you look there is a photo to be taken! If you are affected by heat, come in the winter! That’s when I really love Charleston! I wonder how many artists have painted this scene?
