Jim Carson, artist extraordinaire! It’s so much fun to run across such talented artists – his work…!!! Just wait until you see it! It will take your breath away!
🌸 Note: Images will be returning to email notifications soon – WordPress is working on it!
There are so many reasons that Jim’s paintings stand out to me, but two reasons are his ability to simplify a complicated scene and make it interesting (making it interesting is key) – while many people can paint a subject, and paint it well, for the painting to be successful (my opinion) the subject has to be interesting, different, make you think or feel… or just smile! The second reason is Jim’s skillful play with light. Not too much light, just a little blip here and there and WOW – this painting is brilliant! The color palette, the simplicity, stunning. Just look at the arrangement on the table. A few strokes and POOF, you have a vase of flowers!
This painting “Inside the Inn” is the Orchard Inn in Saluda, NC – I’ve never been, but I sure want to visit now! Just wait until you see the rest of Jim’s work!
🚨 Note: The “Collections” tab (where you can see the paintings on Jim’s site) is in the process of being fixed – there is a glitch – it should be fixed soon, so please check back, IN THE MEANTIME, click HERE to get to a temporary website until the issue is resolved.

BIO
Jim Carson, AIS, OPA
Jim Carson, AIS, OPA, was the managing partner in the law firm of Chambless, Higdon and Carson, in Macon, Ga., where he practiced law for 31 years.
Although always interested in drawing, even at an early age, Jim began taking painting lessons in 1989, and his art journey culminated in 2003, when Jim retired from law practice, moved to Saluda, N.C., and now paints full time.
Jim is known for his creative color balance and bold and spontaneous brushwork. His favorite subject matter is catching and carrying the light and shadow patterns through a painting, whether in an outdoor landscape, cityscape, interior, or still life.
Jim has been recognized at a number of national events, including the Neil Patterson Award of Excellence in the 2019 Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition for Traditional Oils, and the Associate Member Award of Distinction at the American Impressionist Society Exhibition in 2015.
