Who doesn’t love flowers, right? Going to different nurseries and seeing what may grow in your specific spot is always fun (and as evidenced by the massive amount of cars – I think most of us can agree on this!) The backyard has always been beautiful and lively until…

…until our dog recently moved on to another realm. The heartbreak is palpable. We’re getting through it just like each of you who lost a pet (that was like their kid) has. We were blessed with nearly 15 years with this lively little guy.

Now we have flowers that need our attention. Watering, deadheading, moving out of the rain (speaking of, we could really use some rain!) – I would love to have a small raised garden but honestly have no idea where to start. I know my few tries with tomatoes in a pot (HA!) were just plain sad. The birds ate all the tomatoes, well – I’m being dramatic – we had a bounty of 3 grape tomatoes which we split on a salad one day a few years ago (and yes, that was it for the year). 😂

My grandma always had petunias, we loved this color – we added some tall gomphrena (the tall thin stems with beautiful pink flowers on the end), have a pot of coleus which grows like crazy, a daisy-family plant (darker purple) which I’m snipping and putting in a small vase inside, and a beautiful (begonia??) red plant that flowers unbelievably from a few friends. On the front porch another beautiful flowering plant, I’m not sure the name but it has beautiful delicate flowers and has the word “angel” or close enough in it… Now our eye goes to the plant when we walk up to the porch. So thankful to sweet friends.
