What are a few things that can make your day? It’s amazing how small it can be. It doesn’t have to be glitz and glamor, sometimes, the simple things bring the biggest smile and feeling of peace. A few of my things: A good book, this coffee mug (that is my everything mug – more on that…) and flowers. Who doesn’t love flowers? Especially flowers that express themselves so well, ha ha.
Reading a good book makes me happy, it’s made me happy since I was a kid. If I have a book, I’m good (or a paper and pencil) I can entertain myself forever. The Paris Apartment by Kelly Bowen is a fabulous book. I don’t normally read historical fiction, but this has to do with art (and more) and it’s a great read. #highlyrecommend I like that it pops back to “the now” every once in a while. Fascinating!
Another thing that makes me smile is my Kronos Coffee Cup by Kinto. It’s a Japanese design, and it keeps cold drinks cold (without sweating!) and warm drinks warm. I use it for everything. Coffee, water, iced tea, wine, you name it. There is only one place in Charleston, SC that I know of that sells it and that place is Hausful Modern Homestore. I’ve had mine for a while, and yesterday I had it sitting on a dish towel and didn’t notice it and moved the towel and the glass shattered, along with my heart. (Ok, that was a bit dramatic, but I’m really attached to this glass, ha ha). First I checked online to be sure they still made them, and they do, but they’re out of stock everywhere, including the manufacturer. So I am hopeful that Hausful will still have one or two on their shelves. #fingerscrossed
Last, but certainly not least, FLOWERS. One favorite: tulips! I love how they stand up late/early and then reach out in the afternoon as if they’re dancing. I am enamored with the orange variety, I always look for those first. They bring such life to a room! For less than $10 I can have a beautiful vase full of flowers for a week! What are a few things that make your day?
✍️ Until next time…
