Favorite Things: Jeni’s Ice Cream!

The first two flavors of Jeni’s Ice Cream that we’ve tried. #wow

I have seen Jeni’s Ice Cream at grocery stores, and remember driving by a Jeni’s in Charleston, SC (always with a long line of customers), but I never tried it. After talking with a neighbor (ALMD, you are responsible for this, ha ha) – and after recuperating after a cold, where nothing seems to taste good – Jeni’s sounded fabulous!

Another day of “what to make for dinner” when neither of us could come up with anything – quickly turned around when I said “why don’t we have a scoop of ice cream for dinner, ha ha” – joking. But then, all of a sudden, it sounded like a brilliant idea. It sounded good, it’s food, it contains calcium 😉 #winwinwin

We headed to Publix, where we looked over the flavors. They have a good selection (and an excellent price!) – never having had any of the flavors, and after looking at Jenis.com and perusing the latest flavors, there was a peanut butter with chocolate flecks (protein!) – but Publix doesn’t carry that flavor. Ok, on to the next one that sounded good to me. Salty Caramel (“Fire-toasted sugar with sea salt, vanilla, and grass-grazed milk. A perfect balance of salty and sweet“). Next up, was Fred – he’s a chocolate guy – loves chocolate desserts, ice cream, you name it. He picked the Darkest Chocolate (“Packed with Fair Trade cocoa and not much else“). I had a tiny taste of Fred’s – it was over the top, but I truly loved the one I picked. Next on my list: Salted Peanut Butter with Chocolate Flecks (“Salted and roasted ground peanuts with grass-grazed milk and crunchy, dark chocolate flecks“). (I’m still not over the fabulous homemade peanut butter ice cream we had on a recent trip to NC, it was over the top fabulous)!

Here’s to getting my NORMAL, salad-loving appetite back – SOON.

👩‍💻Until next time…

Jeni’s ice cream quickly became our favorite refuge during any excuse to stop by to try a creative new flavor. It’s late hours made it nice for after a show downtown or one evening after a school event. My son and I would constantly rank our favorite flavors while adding new flavors to the top of the list. Brambleberry Crisp is my all time favorite but Butterscotch Popcorn 🍿blew my mind. My son could tell you most of the flavors and has his own rankings. Now that he is at college I can instacart him a few pints for his freezer which has become a huge hit and reminder of home. He said the Brambleberry Crisp was a bittersweet reminder of our many times together in Charleston.
