House plans are a favorite for many of you who visit this site. For the serious lookers – those of you planning to build in the near future, to the dreamers who think about moving, building, and what type of house plan would best suit them. Considerable time should be spent finding just the right plan for you, you’ll know when you find it, and if one is close, check with the architect/designer, most will make changes that can work for you. I know good house plans when I see them. This, of course, is a good one! I love the steep roof, the front porch, the scale of this home is nice – just wait until you “step inside”, it feels much larger than it’s square footage!
This is the Randolph Cottage Porch Alternative (SL 1864) by Bill Ingram for Southern Living! This plan is 1,800 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. So many areas to sit, to work, to cook, to enjoy – inside, outside you have options – I love options!
A word about open floor plans… Open floor plans are uber popular right now. However, I truly think there are an equal number of people (if not more) who prefer actual rooms. Maybe a bit open, but it doesn’t have to be open from front to back. There are plenty of both type plans (open and with walls) that I truly love and can see myself living happily ever after in. The choice is yours! I go back and forth, and back and forth… just be sure when you choose.
If you’re like me, real images help so much, I was able to find an article with this house plan along with images! So take a peek at the floor plan images and then check out this article: At Home Arkansas: Best In Show!
First off, a wonderful front porch is what dreams are made of, right? You step inside this plan in view of the staircase – which can be an absolute showstopper. To your right is the living room with a cozy fireplace. To your left is the wonderful kitchen with fabulous island. Heading towards the back of the house is the dining room, with a porch to the right of it, and a laundry room to the left of it. In the back of the house is the owners suite. Closets, bedroom and bathroom.
Upstairs could almost be its own private little home (minus a kitchen) – two bedrooms, a nice bathroom and a good size tv room/living area. What more could you ask for, right?
