Kayla Martell. Her paintings stopped me in my tracks as I was zipping through Instagram. Zing, zing – whoa! Back up… WOW! Her paintings are out of this world and she has a sense of humor with her Instagram, which I love. I am drawn to paintings of interiors. Not all interiors, they have to have that magic pop that makes it feel real, more like a story.

Tada, here you have it, a painting, well executed – with all kinds of stories. I know when I used to paint, as much as I would try to be loose, I would invariably end up tight. I used large brushes at times, but near the end would notice that I turned them on their sides and tried to use only a tiny portion resulting in a tight painting, once again. The looseness here, all the colors that give this painting depth and the bits of abstractness just make this painting better and better. Looking at this painting more in depth look at how the little bits of light or reflected light add to the tremendous feel of this painting! I am beyond impressed. #lovethepinkkitchentowelstoo!
