ARTIST: Judy Joy Nocifora!

“Stink Eye (Charlie)” by Judy Joy Nocifora

What a wonderful painting, right? How are some artists able to pick up on the little things that make our creatures come alive in a painting? Especially without ever meeting the animal. The funny little sit that he had at times and this look, the “stink eye” look he often gave. It meant “now!” (In terms of carrot treats, cucumber treats, breakfast/lunch/dinner, evening walk, etc.).

Many of you know we lost our 15 year old Jack Russell Terrier a few months ago. It’s been tough. He was our little guy. In Charlie’s later years in the late afternoon he would go sit next to the door and look just like this. Judy actually painted this in 2017 (I love when artists ask if they can paint Charlie from my photos, I always say Yes, but please let me see it!) I love the different interpretations! We have four paintings (and one sketch) of Charlie, so over the next few weeks (either a Saturday or a Monday) I’m going to share one painting with some information on the artist.

Check out Judy’s Instagram to see more of her work! Interested in a workshop with Judy? She teaches in Memphis, TN and has an upcoming Oil Painting with Judy Nocifora (JULY 11, 2024 through AUGUST 1, 2024)! Info HERE!

It is so amazing how artists have the ability to bring back memories so strong. What a gift, we all thank you for it!

🐾 Until next time…
