Featured Artist: Ralf Feyl & Island Inn Show – Monhegan, Maine!

Display at the Inn by Ralf Feyl | Oil on panel | 14″ x 18″ Oil on Panel

My husband said this painting reminds him of our time at the Island Inn during dinner while eating by himself while I was outside taking photos of the most stunning sunsets you can ever imagine. The beauty of their sunsets defy logic. Who could resist? I was only gone a minute or two (I wasn’t the only one!) ok, maybe 3-4 max.

Some of the photos I’ve taken look similar to this painting. The sky and water so vibrant with the backlit bits and pieces of the island, the wharf and Barnacle – the hot spots of the Island.

Every year the Island Inn on Monhegan (a great place to stay if you ever choose to visit!) features an artist in their dining room for the season. This year, it’s Ralf Feyl and the paintings are STUNNING! Many are sold, so if you see one you love, I wouldn’t hesitate. I have featured Ralf in the past, we have a few of his paintings – if you are in the Monhegan (Maine) area, this show will be a treat and if you can’t make it, check out the SHOW link below!

About the Artist (via Lupine Gallery website):

Lupine Gallery is delighted to present the 2024 Annual Exhibition at the Island Inn:

Ralf Feyl

Watermarks

Ralf Feyl, born in Chicago, credits his attention to detail and design to his early life with parents who were master craftspeople. Trained in figurative painting at Chicago’s American Academy of Art, he later moved to New England to continue his studies at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Connecticut. He has resided in midcoast Maine and painted on Monhegan Island over the past thirty years.

Known for his atmospheric, finely rendered landscape paintings, Ralf Feyl is most interested in conveying the impression the moment or subject made on him. Through use of carefully controlled palette and tone, he captures qualities of stillness, the power of crashing water, solidity of rock, the subtlety or drama of light.

The same quality of control and subtlety is used to contrast the gleam in the eye of a sheep with the texture of its wool, or portray the delicacy of a flower petal in a still life.

Ralf Feyl has over twenty solo exhibitions to his credit, and his work is found in hundreds of private and corporate collections across the globe, including Deutsche Bank, Frankfurt; Boeing, Chicago; Swedish Trade Council, Stockholm’ and Pfizer Inc., New York.

The show ‘Watermarks’ will be on exhibit at the Island Inn on Monhegan from May 24 to October 13, 2024.
