Ikea Charlotte – What a great time!

#IKEAcharlotte neon sign, colorful striped towels hanging, colorful coatracks with bright orange towels, bookcase cubbies with books, orange table, orange chair, turquoise chair

Sometimes it’s nice to get away. When news gets to be a bit much we all handle it differently. We were walking one morning and I said to my husband, we should just hop in the car and head to…

Charlotte, NC! We used to visit (many) years ago. We headed (can you guess where?) to Ikea, bought a few cool outdoor chairs, had a great lunch, walked around and made a very interesting observation, yet again.

People LOVE to shop and eat. They love it. I grew up when malls were amazing places to visit. When Fred and I got married we had great date nights at the mall after a nice dinner out. The walking, looking, dreaming was such a good time. I’m not sure why we’re at the point we’re at but I can honestly say, while shopping online is convenient at times, I hate it for certain items like clothes. Sometimes you need to try on, or actually see/feel what you’re buying because it can look great in a catalog and be a huge disappointment once received. Then you’re packing, labeling, dropping off, waiting for them to receive, and waiting for a refund. Sigh.

Ikea was hopping. There was a long line at the restaurant and the store was so busy, yet fine because it’s so large it never felt cramped.

We stopped at Ikea near Detroit (Canton, MI) and observed the exact same thing. Packed with people the restaurant, the store – people, and families having the best time, laughing, enjoying dinner and shopping. I think it’ll come back in style one day, just like walls 😆

👩‍💻 Until next time…
