Happy 4th of July…
Many of you will know this scene. Or at least remember it from long ago (photo from 2007). Port Clyde, Maine near Monhegan Boat Line. Since this time there was a fire and the General Store is no more, Monhegan Boat Line that had just built a beautiful building (had not actually seen in person) – also was lost. The boat line has rebuilt and they’re back in business. So if you’re headed to Monhegan, it’s a trusted way to go.

My 🎆 PSA:
Many of you are taking time off to spend with family or friends, enjoy a nice cookout, watch fireworks – and generally chill. Stay safe y’all. Please make provisions for your animals prior to the fireworks tonight. More dogs are lost on July 4th than any other day of the year. (Not to be a downer, but I don’t want anyone to lose their dog)…
Fireworks (sound and light) scare so many animals which causes them to bolt. I dread hearing about the lost dogs the tomorrow. Fireworks also put people who suffer from PTSD through hell (can you imagine). I’m more than happy to forgo fireworks. However, I realize I’m in the minority. Please just be responsible. Set them off, say OoOOOH, and AaHHHH and then cleanup any mess and render the planet quiet again so animals may have a chance of finding their way home safely.
HERE are some good tips from American Kennel Club on how to create a safe space for them during the fireworks and also what to do if your pet goes missing. Please take a moment to read through it, it’s better to be prepared. So set up that calm space where the dogs can’t get out, have soothing music turned up to help with the sound. And be sure to read above to prepare should your pet go missing.
Have fun! The Party Pooper 🤓
🇺🇸 Until next time…
