I love these trees. We live in an older neighborhood and we have several of these “tulip trees”. The blooms are very tulip-like, but once the flower petals fall off green leaves shoot out and it becomes what you see the rest of the year, a pretty green tree. We have Spanish moss in trees in this area (which is what you see above).

I love flowers. Love them! They are bright and happy and make me smile. What a nice little pick me up during the week, (and yes, a photo counts!) I took this photo a while back when I was in Michigan. This is one of my dad’s rose bushes. The man has a green thumb just like his mom had. (🙌dad!) I love that my mom has little vases of roses everywhere. Next to the bed, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the living room. So pretty and such a nice touch!

Just look at the perfection in this blooming beauty! A feast for the eyes for sure. I snapped this at a garden center on a windy day, so I lucked out that it’s in focus. Stunning petals, gorgeous bloom – makes spring feel very near! Especially since I have (or at least my eyes have) detected pollen already!

This is the cool (huge) owl that has fascinated our neighborhood day and night. He is remarkable and stoic. His head swivels, he meets your eyes – yet from quite a distance up in the trees. I don’t interfere with his thought process – I think he’s listening/sensing prey – he is always on high alert.

Our kitchen sink has two windows which I love. It makes doing dishes more pleasant when you have a view. But something was missing, and I knew just what it was! I plucked these flowers out of a bouquet that Fred had given me, strikingly beautiful. When they were towards the end of their lives, I took them out of the water, wrapped with pretty string and hung upside down. Now they’re gorgeous dried flowers!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Can you believe it’s already 2024 – it sounds so futuristic! I swear, by this year I would have thought we would be able to hop on a modern chair on a conveyor belt that would whisk us into the shower, makeup, dressing and we pop out the other side completely ready for the day (like the Jetson’s). #woohoo.
I’m not sure where I saved this image from (above), a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson – please take the time to read this each morning – I think this will help keep life in perspective! It’s good to have goals in life, to stride to be better, but life isn’t all about getting things done. Be kind to yourself in addition to others. We all need a break sometimes!

But staying home sounds equally as wonderful (to me!) – Whatever your preference make a good time of it! Enjoy those around you, whether it’s with a large crowd or a significant other, friend or family member. Be cognizant of the fact that things are good. Take time to feel the happiness and be thankful. If this hasn’t been a happy year for you, lean on your friends to get you through the tough times. Many of us are very good listeners. Let others help you ease your burden. It takes a village, and one day you will be the one someone comes to talk to.

Some things are priceless, right? Especially mementos that elicit memories of good times. Like this wooden bowl (made by my dad – THANK YOU, DAD!) filled with wooden Christmas ornaments (also, made by my dad!). I love to pull them out of the Christmas box and fill the bowl with happiness. So every time I walk by this I think of Christmas as a kid, and my parents and how blessed I am to have such a wonderful family, husband and in-laws.
