Another pretty sight to behold and the weather to go along with it!

With EL NIÑO in place, much of the country is expecting warmer temps this winter. I can say that would be true for Charleston where temps are hovering around 80 and the sun is shining beautifully. It’s a delight to be able to spend more time outdoors.

A stunning view on a time-change eve for most of us…

When is the madness going to stop? Wouldn’t it be nice to stay on Daylight Saving Time (DST)? The thought, for most of us, of dark coming at such an early hour gives those who work no time to be in the sunlight, even if it may be fading… Regardless, the fact is for most of us, tonight is when we change the clock BACK one hour (gaining an hour of sleep)…

Quintessential New England Halloween Decor

Isn’t this the quintessential New England fall decor you’ve always dreamed of? Simple. Classic. The gorgeous blue of the door, coupled with the classy door knocker is enough to say WOW, but add pumpkins on the ledge above the door and this is a knockout! The American flag dresses this off nicely, as does the pretty flowers on the porch.

Oh! The stories these homes could tell…

I took this photo several years ago – this is an exquisite example of Charleston, SC architecture. I love the lines (on the windows, columns, ceiling, detail work on trim, windows, shadows) and the shadows from the palm trees. Stunning in every way. This is one of the many grand homes of Charleston. What a treat it is to walk and snap photos.

Do you know the story behind the carving of pumpkins? #coolanswer

Pumpkins/gourds – such a cool indication of fall, cool weather, cider, Halloween, and everything crisp and wonderful. I took this photo years ago on Monhegan Island (Maine) – fresh pumpkins lined the road. A quintessential fall photo! It hit me, WHY do we do this? Good answer…

Look for the unexpected!

Love the cool boat fender’s color against the dark color of the water. Sunlight just added a little something special. Charleston, SC is a special place to take photos. I could take photos literally all day long. When you’re out walking look for the unexpected – it seems like unexpected images, images that tug at your heartstrings or images that tell a story are the biggest draw. Some are just gorgeous (flowers, for example). #solookfortheunexpected

A Yucca Bloom + Big Bird = Good Grief

We walk past a cool yucca plant each day. I don’t really notice it until it blooms and then *WOW*! I’ve taken several photos, morning, evening – but the golden light hitting on this particular occasion made it even more special. I love being on the lookout for plants other than the norm. It makes a walk more meditative, which is nice.

Wouldn’t this be a nice extension of your outdoor living space?

I took this photo the other day at a design place we were at. They have all kinds of neat things, they also have plants, and outdoor items beautifully displayed. I would love to see this in our backyard somewhere, isn’t it fabulous? It helps filter out the strong sun to keep it a little cooler on those hot days.

Tuna Salad and a small, wild wonder… 🤎

This is our sweet beast. Some of his antics are hilarious (I’m sure you can relate with a pet of your own) – He gets a special treat every once in a while and it’s his absolute favorite. Afterwards, he gets in between his two beds (he likes them stacked up) and roots. This is the result. Ear flipped, eyebrows going every which way. He is incredibly happy.
