ARTIST: Judy Joy Nocifora!

“Stink Eye (Charlie)” by Judy Joy Nocifora

What a wonderful painting, right? How are some artists able to pick up on the little things that make our creatures come alive in a painting? Especially without ever meeting the animal. The funny little sit that he had at times and this look, the “stink eye” look he often gave. It meant “now!” (In terms of carrot treats, cucumber treats, breakfast/lunch/dinner, evening walk, etc.).

Warm temps, time to hit the beach with the beast!

Well, as unbelievable as it is… it’s about time to hit the beach! This weather can’t possibly last… warm temps, near 80… makes it a nice time to hit the beach with Charlie… Since he can’t go in the summer (unless it’s before 10AM or after 6PM) we like to go in the spring and fall, anytime before May 1 or after September 30th, then they can go any time of day.

I still remember the first time he went… he was scared of everything, the sand, the wind, THE WAVES! But then he got his feet wet, and started chasing the waves, now when we go he jumps right in, no matter the temperature!

Hope you are all having nice weather as well! Get out and enjoy your day! Catch you back here tomorrow!

Do you ever feel that you can’t get in the swing of things? You’re not alone!

Do you ever feel that you just can't get in the swing of things?

This cracks me up. I’m so glad I had my phone nearby to snap a photo… last year, after Fred and I were in Maine and Charlie was “at camp”, we picked him up, gave him a bath, brought him in the house and he jumped up in his “dog bed” (his sofa) and was facing the wrong way. Normally he plops himself over the arm of the sofa LOOKING OUT THE WINDOW. I think he was so mixed up with us being gone for so long that he got into this position, and let me tell you it wasn’t easy…

So if you feel like you can’t get in the swing of things, don’t worry you’re not alone! Whether it be diet (more good healthy recipes coming soon) or the need to get organized (a few tips on that as well!) we all feel that way at some point!

(And yes, the sheet on the sofa and the “blankie” makes quite the nice fashion statement, don’t you think??)

Catch you back here tomorrow!

The little one… not yet fuzzy…

This photo was taken three years ago, shortly after we got the little beast affectionately referred to as Charlie! This was before he got fuzzy… pretty soon the hair grew in front of his eyes and his coat got longer. He’s soft but much like a Swiffer… you know, those cloths that dust clings to? Yep, that’s Charlie… when he goes outside he comes in like a little Swiffer… have to de-swifferize him before he comes in the house, ha ha…

This is Charlie three years later…

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Are you getting your shopping done for Christmas…? Can you believe how quickly it got here this year… each year it seems to arrive a little earlier!

Catch you back here tomorrow!

A walk to remember…

Move more – Eat less… it’s what the experts say we should all be doing… Well, we’ve been really good about moving more, that’s for sure (we could probably eat a little less, but…). Charlie (our Jack Russell) is instrumental in our fitness regimen… if we don’t get him walked at the bare minimum of four miles he’s wound up tighter than a tick (ick, what does that mean?)… Here are a few pictures from our walk today. We live near the West Ashley Greenway, it’s a great path that goes many miles out… Today we ventured out 2 miles and back 2 miles with a quick reward stop at Petco for Charlie… He loves to shop… then as we headed back down the greenway we detoured at Dolittles (another pet store with cool toys and treats) and then headed home. Hope you’re able to get out this weekend. It’s so nice this week, I’m looking at my Brookstone “weather station” and it’s shows 75 for Wednesday… holy cow, can you imagine August? Eek… for now, the nights are still cool, YAY!!! So a fire in the fireplace is what we look forward to! Have a great weekend… until tomorrow…

YO BIRDIE, IT’S ME… CHARLIE!

What’s one thing you like to do on a Sunday? One thing we like to do is take Charlie (JRT) to the James Island County Dog Park. We had heard so much about this specific dog park, then we decided to check it out… The dog park is separated for small dogs under 25 pounds, which is where we started with Charlie… He finally graduated to the “big dog” side where there is a LOT of land to run, there is water to stand in to cool (he’s not a swimmer yet, but he will go stand in the water and maybe do a few paddles, even when it’s brutally cold!). If you have a dog do you take it to the dog park? if not, give it a try some time, you meet (mostly) nice people and the dogs are awesome to watch!
Charlie and his PBGB friend, Birdie…

See the water in the distance… This is where ALL the dogs are in the summer… In the winter everyone is really hoping they DON’T, but they always do…

This was his running buddy this past week… This dog was hilarious, would jump over smaller dogs while he was running…

This is what he looks like after soaking in the nice cold water then running and rolling in sand… The sun in his hair, he’s having the time of his life!
