The guest room has access to a nearby bathroom as does the office area that could easily double as a smaller bedroom (minus a closet). Oh I love the upstairs… but it’s a nice option if you don’t really need that space!

Without the second floor you would not have that high ceiling and windows that would let in more light. I like it as designed. That loft could give you a private sitting room or an emergency bedroom or just a cool place to spie on those below

I think you could have cathedral ceilings, where it would look like a second story, but only be a one story that lets incredible light in. But I would opt to keep the loft, because yes, it would make a cool sitting room, bedroom, office or as you say, a place to keep an eye on those below, ha ha…
