We recently took a little trip to the mountains. The weather was spectacular, the mountains gorgeous – the Great Smoky Mountain National Park – is a stunning array of mountains, trails, peaks and valleys. These mountains are called the Smokies because of the morning fog that seems to always be there – which is stunning to watch. While we were there, amidst fresh air, the cleanest water ever, solitude, and beauty galore, we could not help but think how nice it would be to live there. To find a piece of property with a view and build a home that would fit into the landscape and not stand out. Prim Haus immediately came to mind – I think I found the perfect plan…

This is the Cottage House Mini house plan by Prim Haus. (First off, don’t let deceive you – this is a great size plan!) The Cottage House Mini is 2,089 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. This two-story home is masterfully designed. One of my very favorites is the fireplace they selected (you’ll see it in the images and in the 3D tour).

I love how the kitchen/dining and living spaces are in one section of this plan (separated by the infamous fireplace) – to access the master or guest suites, you pass through the entry space, which is beautiful all by itself. You will first come upon a powder room and a laundry/linen closet. Walking further down the hall you will see the guest suite with its private bath. If you walk through the entry from the living spaces and make a left turn you are entering the master suite. A glamorous master bath awaits you. Closets (and the ability to have excess storage in the loft attic space) and listen to this… a door to the outside (a deck in the rendering, which would be exquisite).

Upstairs is a loft area which can be anything you like (I love options!) – from a guest room to an office or studio. My first thought was it’s a nice space for a designer of any type. Many places for storage – Light from the skylight above.

Pretty spectacular, right? I am imagining this home tucked into my (fictional) mountain setting. Ahhh, life is good!
