Drop dead gorgeous, don’t you think? When I look at this house, it feels as if I’m in an older, very grand neighborhood. You know the kind with the towering oaks, wild palms and HISTORY. It’s hard to believe this plan wasn’t built long, long ago! There is a special grandness to this plan. I love the stunning porches, etc. – they are what dreams are made of.

This is the Old Oyster Retreat house plan (15363) by Allison Ramsey Architects. This plan is 4,119 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (+ two half baths).

When I first saw the upstairs of this plan it made me think about a book I just started by Kristin Hannah, where the mom wants her kids to grow up where she can keep an eye on them, keep them safe. So the second floor of their beautiful home is where all the kids come after school, it’s where they all gather. There is a living space, much like the entertainment room in this plan. This plan allows even more versatility. Let’s take a look…

You enter this plan from the fabulous deep porch – utter perfection, into a nice size foyer with the stairway on your left. As you step into this plan you can see through to the living room and through the French doors to the screened porch. A site line that will take your breath away! The left side of this plan is the master suite, bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet. Off the foyer is a powder room. As you walk toward the grand living space on the right side of this plan is the kitchen with plentiful countertops and a breakfast area – which I love. The perfect place to start the day! The kitchen is open to the dining room and off to the side is a reading room. I LOVE THIS! It’s where you would find me if I wasn’t cooking or on one of the porches! It’s always nice to have one screened porch for the days the mosquitoes are overwhelming.

When you head up the stairs, immediately on your left is a bedroom (same identical bedroom suite is on the right hand side of the home), walk in closet, bathroom. Back at the top of the stairs you’re in a loft area that leads to two bunk areas. Beyond the bunks is a wide open entertainment space where plenty of good memories can be made.
