Chef Thornton, coffee mug, donation, mug on table overlooking Orchard coffee shop
Quick snapshot while Max was making us an excellent cup of coffee – Orchard Coffee Shop, Waynesville, NC

This is the coolest coffee shop in Waynesville, NC. I started following Orchard Coffee after Hurricane Helene. During the aftermath they did so much to help their community, it truly was jaw-dropping. Everyone who worked here went the extra mile and then the unthinkable happened…

One of their own, Chef Thornton experienced sudden cardiac arrest (at a young age) and is now in an Asheville hospital and the doctors and family need him to be moved to a specialty hospital in Atlanta, where he can receive care that can hopefully bring him out of a coma. If you’re in the North Carolina area, Orchard Coffee in Waynesville, started selling this wonderful mug, it’s $40 and all proceeds go towards Thornton’s care (and hopefully the ability for him to move to the Atlanta hospital). I have to say the mug isn’t the typical cheap mug, it’s light, and not too thick to drink out of, it’s nice, like really nice!

If you would like to help and can make a donation (no amount too big or small) please check out the Go Fund Me page: https://gofund.me/223efc5c – If you would like to help but cannot make a donation please share the Go Fund Me page with others (this post will be on FB and Instagram to share from as well).

Sometimes we have to take it into our own hands to help others out. Just like Thornton, Cabel (owner of Orchard Coffee and Thornton’s brother) and the rest of Orchard Coffee did for the community of Waynesville, NC in the aftermath of Helene.

From Orchard Coffee’s Instagram regarding this mug:

We made these sweet mugs to raise funds for him. Honestly the costs have been exorbitant, and continue to grow, so these make a small dent in the expense.

Thank you to Ryan and team (@created.co) for making this run of mugs as a gift to Thornton, and Aaron (@uncle.maurice) for the great design work, also gifted to Thornton. Because of their kindness 100% of money from the sale of these mugs will be applied to Thornton’s care.

👩‍💻 Until next time…
