Behold the Citrus Trees – Charleston, SC!

Citrus tree outside

Aren’t they gorgeous? I love to see a beautiful citrus tree in a huge pot – it really can make a bold statement. We don’t have one but we’ve looked at them. Charleston, SC is Zone 9 for plants, so it’s pretty tropical but we do get an occasional frost. That being said, there are many (MANY) citrus trees around here. A neighbor has a giant old (grapefruit or very, very large lemon) tree in his backyard FILLED with grapefruit looking fruit.

We have several neighbors with citrus trees and they’re beautiful. I would be a little stressed during times of cold weather, which is a rarity for us, but it does happen. I remember several years ago we had below freezing temps for several days. A few days, some plants can handle, but extreme (to us!) cold for many days was a dealbreaker for so many plants.

We were at on the the several gardening places we visit. A small place packed with beautiful plants, flowers, pots and design goods including furniture, jewelry, etc. Check them out if you’re in Mount Pleasant, SC – Elizabeth Stuart Designs (known by most of us as “ESD”).

Thanksgiving is getting close, I think I have all the ingredients I need – going to check my list and be sure! Oh, happy day!

👩‍💻 Until next time… ✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!

A citrus tree is so appealing. I agree. I have a friend whose mother kept a lemon tree inside here in New England. When it bore fruit, the family would celebrate with lemon meringue pie. That story always intrigued me.
