Carley Fortune. I love her writing style. This book has the best setting. In my mind it’s like a Dirty Dancing resort, very nice, but in a charming way. The characters are fabulous although imperfect like the rest of us. Two people with an undeniable connection – but… Trust me, it’s a good one! So if you’re looking for a great book to read or if you need to add another to your TBR list – check it out… more info below!
Well, I don’t want to spoil anything. Matter of fact, I don’t even read the entire back of the book. I do read reviews, I don’t always go by them but I do read them.
Here’s a blip about Meet Me At The Lake, from Carley Fortune’s website:
A random connection sends two strangers on a daylong adventure where they make a promise one keeps and the other breaks, with life-changing effects.
Fern Brookbanks has wasted far too much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter. She spent just twenty-four hours in her early twenties with the aggravatingly attractive, idealistic artist, a chance encounter that spiraled into a daylong adventure in Toronto. The timing was wrong, but their connection was undeniable: they shared every secret, every dream, and made a pact to meet one year later. Fern showed up. Will didn’t.
At thirty-two, Fern’s life doesn’t look at all how she once imagined it would. Instead of living in the city, Fern’s back home, running her mother’s Muskoka lakeside resort—something she vowed never to do. The place is in disarray, her ex-boyfriend’s the manager, and Fern doesn’t know where to begin.
She needs a plan—a lifeline. To her surprise, it comes in the form of Will, who arrives nine years too late, with a suitcase in tow and an offer to help on his lips. Will may be the only person who understands what Fern’s going through. But how could she possibly trust this expensive-suit wearing mirage who seems nothing like the young man she met all those years ago. Will is hiding something, and Fern’s not sure she wants to know what it is.
But ten years ago, Will Baxter rescued Fern. Can she do the same for him?
My review on Goodreads: 5⭐️
Meet Me At the Lake by Carley Fortune… 5⭐️ The perfect, unforgettable beach read (any time of year)!
When you find “the right one” you know. But when you lose “the right one” the devastation can be heartbreaking. Few of us get to feel this level of continuity and love.
The setting of this book is a lakeside resort reminiscent of a “Dirty Dancing” scene. (I would love to be in one of those old cabins right now!)
Meet Me at the Lake has great characters who you will come to adore.
This book is brilliant, but… you’ll zip through it quickly. I love Carley Fortune’s writing style.
Great cover too (SO IMPORTANT!!) by artist Elizabeth Lennie.
Hated for this book to end…
📚 Hope you had a great Thanksgiving – Until next time…
