It’s been a cold harsh winter here in Charleston, SC 😉 – for us… BUT, absolutely nothing compared to other parts of the country – that’s for sure. A week here or there of brutally cold temps is nothing (and not even considered “brutally cold” elsewhere). Temps this week ranging from 70-80 degrees for the next ten days. SO, when is it safe to begin planting? It’s difficult to pass by wonderful nurseries and see GORGEOUS flowers and want to load up and get planting, right?
Well, the good news is for most of us in this (Charleston, SC) area, we should be good “mid-March” is the general rule, some sources go a little later and some a little earlier. Worst case you can start the planning process to be sure.
👉 If you aren’t in or near the Charleston, SC area (we’re zone 9a), you can do a quick Google search either by location or zone to give you an idea of a last freeze date when you should be able to plant flowers. Or follow this link to the Almanac, enter your location (city/state) and it will give you a comprehensive list of when to plant what!
I took the above photo browsing at Elizabeth Stuart Design (outdoor section) – their flowers are gorgeous! If you like nice things, pop in, say hello and then peruse the wonderful garden area.
🌷 Until next time… ✨ Take a moment to be grateful for at least one thing today – TODAY will be a good day, you’ve got this!
