Brightest Sunset Ever… and an important reminder…

IMG_0226

Last Saturday evening we saw the brightest sunset I think we’ve ever seen in our lives. It almost blinded you. It was hard to look at, but it was even harder to NOT look at. I took this photo coming off the James Island Connector (Fred was driving, for those of you who are wondering). What you see is the flag pole for California Dreaming (on our way there to pick up a few salads!). Spectacular isn’t it?

For those of you who live in areas of the country who “participate” in “Daylight Savings Time… it begins today! So hopefully before you went to bed last night you set your clocks ahead one hour?!  This is the dreaded “lose an hour of sleep” time that seems to take me a week or two to get over… hopefully this year will be different, ha ha… They also say now is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms/Carbon Monoxide Detectors and anything else of importance!

Catch you back here tomorrow!

Fall back… and add an extra hour to your day!

Well Daylight Savings Time is coming to an end in this part of the country, which means you get an extra hour of sleep, never a bad thing, right? Don’t forget to set your clocks, watches, oven, microwave, etc. back one hour before you hit the hay!

What are you going to do with this extra hour? I think I will probably wake up at 4AM instead of 5 for the next foreseeable future! Might as well get up and enjoy the day, right? I’ll catch you back here tomorrow, and I promise to be very well rested, hee…

Spring ahead and check your smoke alarm batteries! TONIGHT…

This is the time of year to S P R I N G  A H E A D  ! Don’t forget to set your clocks AHEAD one hour before you go to bed…  It’s strange getting used to a new time. My body is on auto pilot. Most days I wake up at the same time each morning, and am ready to turn in around the same time each night… now everything will be screwy… Do YOU like this time change? Here in Charleston it seems like we’ve had Spring for the last few months now… so it’s not like getting excited once the time changes that Spring is near… it’s been here!

Hey, after you set your clocks, change the batteries in your smoke alarms… it could save a life!

AND… if you’re one of the slick few that noticed that I already did a post today that mentioned that the time changes tomorrow PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK! Because… oops! It just hit me… it’s T O D A Y !

Have a great day, catch you back here tomorrow!

November 6, 2011 @ 2AM Daylight Savings Time ends… reverts back to Standard Time.

You either love it or you hate it… few fall somewhere in the middle. Do you prefer Daylight Savings Time in the Spring where we lose an hour? Or do you prefer when the time reverts back to Standard Time where we gain an hour in November? Don’t forget to set your clocks BACK 1 hour tonight before you go to bed. Time officially changes at 2AM (it will then be 1AM) on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

You’ll have to work a little harder to exercise outdoors before it gets dark, but I happen to like this time of year… ALOT!

Catch you back here tomorrow… after you set your clock back !

A public service announcement… change your clocks!

Image: Bing.com

BEEP BEEP BEEP… this is a public service announcement… A reminder that at 2AM it’s Daylight Savings Time… so before you go to bed tonight (or if you’re like me, you’ll do it now so you won’t forget and then you’ll be early for everything… ugh)  set your clocks ONE HOUR AHEAD… (and YES, if you’re wondering… I did have to say… “Spring forward/Fall back” to be sure I had that straight. Otherwise this would be a very very bad public service announcement, now wouldn’t it?) Other than the alarm clock, remember the microwave, the stove and every other gadget in the world that doesn’t know how to miraculously change the time all by itself!

Are you one of those people who for weeks after the time change keeps thinking… “but it’s really…”” (i.e. it’s 8pm, but it’s really 7pm)? I’m curious… am I the only one?

Does anyone know why we change the time? Well I did some reading on this and there doesn’t seem to be a clear definition as to why. There are many theories but they don’t all agree. Which can only mean the reason we have Daylight Saving Time is BECAUSE… THAT’S WHY! My very professional opinion and I’m sticking to it!

BEEP BEEP BEEP… This ends the public service announcement. Good day…
