Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC 5/25/12-6/10/12!

Sunset Serenade

Charleston, SC is gearing up to be one happening, busy, event-filled, art loving city! The other day I mentioned the Spoleto Festival that transforms Charleston, SC for 17 magnificent days. In addition to the regular Spoleto events are the Piccolo Spoleto events, many of which are free. You need to go to their website, you can see the schedule of events, the price (or if it’s free), the location and dates/times. There is a fabulous art show in Marion Square, a Craft Show for a few weekends as well as events peppered throughout the city. So if you’re close by (or if you are far, it’s worth it, I promise), pick a few that appeal to you, get in on the action that makes Charleston such a great place to live. Music, theater, dance, art, crafts, you name it… so take a peak at their website! There is so much being offered that you really MUST take a look!

Here is just a sample of what is being offered… Sunset Serenade showcasing “Porgy and Bess” (pictured above)… Here is some info from the Piccolo website!

Great CD… KOOP – Koop Islands

Image: Amazon.com

Recently while meandering through ESD, a local design shop near the house, I heard this CD playing and just HAD to know WHO this was… it was interesting music, the kind that you can just sit and listen to for hours on end. The music that was playing was the first song on this CD, and it made me feel like I was in Italy! It was fabulous… the CD cover talks about this as jazz and a combination of 1930’s swing and carribean music… I’m not sure that I would describe it that way, but I know I thoroughly enjoy it! I don’t know much about the group other than it’s a duo from Stockholm… read more about them here and click to listen to some tidbits (from Amazon)… http://www.amazon.com/Koop-Islands/dp/B000VI6T9C – hope this makes you as happy as it did me 🙂

Sleek and compact with a very impressive voice!

Image: Bose.com

Have you had a chance to listen to a Bose radio? It’s impressive. How can that much sound come out of such a small body? Incredible! Instead of having speakers and wires (we are becoming a society obsessed with getting rid of wires, ha ha… I agree wholeheartedly!) you have a compact sounds system that you would think would be coming out of a large system.

The Bose system we have is many years old and still plays like a charm! So if you’re in the market for a new radio/CD player/alarm… take a look at it! Nice thing they do is they divide the payments on your regular credit card (at 0% interest!!). You don’t have to get a special card to take advantage of the offer… check it out… www.bose.com!

Take me AS I AM…

Image via http://www.aliciakeys.com

Ok, if you were going to be stranded on a desert island and could take only one music album with you, which one would it be? That is the WordPress topic of the day. Kind of fun, so I thought I would play along… I like to listen to Alicia Keys – AS I AM. It starts out with the Intro that is slow and sultry, you have to turn up the volume to be sure it’s even on… then it segues into more of a beat, perfect for walking… I love to listen to it when I’m cooking or painting… So I think I’ll go ahead and turn it on now and get dinner rolling… How about you? What ONE album would you take with you if you were to be stranded…? I guess we should all take that one album with us since between the wild weather and the traffic we most certainly can be “stranded” in our cars! You can listen to these songs at www.aliciakeys.com !
