Another photo I took on Easter while out and about downtown Charleston, SC. Some of the yards are absolutely gorgeous, I got my lens through the gate to get a photo of the fountain and turtles… once I got home I’m not sure if they were real or not, ha ha… I need to go back and if they’re still there I guess I have my answer. I swear they looked real when I snapped this picture? Hmmm. Look at all that beautiful green grass! A rarity for downtown!
Hey… Happy Earth Day… do something green and environmentally friendly (like lose the gas blower and use electricity or rake and sweep… you burn calories at the same time, lots of them, then you get skinny and can eat forbidden foods, hee… at least that’s what I tell myself!)

This is a photo I took on Easter. After Fred and I got home we were in a fog, so the best thing to do is to get out and walk around. I grabbed the camera and out the door we went, this is one of the photos in that near golden light that is so special. This is 12 State Street in downtown Charleston, SC. I love the way the light makes everyone and everything look so much better… I would like golden light bulbs! Hee!

Easter was a nice day. Ate too much. Got home and needed to move, otherwise I was going to fall into a coma. Fred and I went downtown and walked around and took photos. I was lost in the photo-taking moments, and we walked for over an hour, it was nice! Felt good to move AND we got a few neat shots. This photo of a gate on Legare Street reminds me of Heaven’s gate, although I always pictured it would be bigger, ha ha…

Several years ago we stayed in a room at the Island Inn that had a balcony… it was a delight, sitting out there in your own chairs overlooking the most gorgeous view EVER! The room was nice, but much smaller (which is fine, we don’t spend much time in our room at all). We’ve tried all different rooms and all seem to be fabulous! This year we’ll be on the third floor, so that will be nice and quiet… and you get a bonus workout each time you walk the three flights to your room, ha ha… helps burn off all the tasty food… although it seems like all we do is hike, walk, well… and e a t! This surprise shot showcases our little bag of treats on our porch… can’t remember what it was but i’m sure it was good!

H A P P Y S P R I N G ! Can you believe it’s SPRING already?? Time flies… I mean it’s whizzing by at such a pace I can barely believe it… Maybe because it’s been like spring in Charleston most of the winter. It still comes as a shock that today is the first day of spring, or should I say… one season closer to summer, ahhh! Like those of you in cool climates dread winter, I dread summer… here’s hoping that this will be an unusually cool summer (woohoo! That hasn’t happened since 1989 when I moved here, but winter has never been so mild either, so… there’s hope)!
It’s a beautiful time here in Charleston, everything is blooming. It seems that everyone has azaleas, and the street is lined in pink blooms. Very pretty indeed!

This is my weekend “wish I was there” photo… Fred and I had so much fun in San Fran… went for years, then thought we should try somewhere on the east coast and never made it back… need to get back there to “our” little boutique hotel that was so cool (and had wine and cheese and night, and before bed, hot cookies and milk… oh heavens!) it’s called the INN AT UNION SQUARE and it’s one awesome place! If you make plans to go to San Fran, check it out!!

Marshall Point Lighthouse is a spectacular spot to watch artists paint, look for sea glass, watch the sunset in the distance… it’s just the neatest place. Several years ago we stayed in a cottage not too far from the lighthouse, so we would walk there often. It was a good walk and we met some really interesting people.

The U. S. Lighthouse Service was established in 1789. In the Town of St. George the oldest lighthouse is on Whitehead Island in Penobscot Bay, built in 1804. There are 22 other lights in Penobscot Bay.
The history of the Marshall Point Light Station goes back to 1831, when Samuel Marshall sold 4 acres of land to the U. S. government for $120. Additional acres were added later to extend the site to 6.5 acres. With a 1⁄4 mile shoreline, it is a nature spot enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year.

There is nothing better to me than to be able to catch that golden light at sunset… I’m a crazy person snapping pictures, because you never know which ones will be “magic”. How nice to live in a digital era. To be free of buying film, loading film, worrying about running out of film, taking it to get developed, etc. etc… Now trees are saved, no one prints as many photos… you have them if you need them and can print them in the blink of an eye, or send them into cyberspace where they will be printed and mailed to you. Very cool indeed.
I love the golden light on this bright orange lifesaver float. I swear lightbulbs should mimic this light… especially in big stores with lots of lighting… the world would be a happier place! Catch you back here tomorrow!
We love shrimp. We eat it most weekends… summer and winter. We’re fortunate to be able to get great tasting shrimp here. Local shrimp is the best, LOVE IT! Just thought I would throw in a photo of a local shrimp boat I had taken a few weeks ago down at Shem Creek Park, what a place! Wow!

Sometimes the most everyday things become the inspiration for a great photo… I would have loved to spend more than a few seconds on this shot, but we were on a roll, heading out to accomplish something or other… (eating, bike riding, photo taking, shopping, you know…??) Next time! In front of the Island Inn Hotel on Mackinac Island they have a great place where you can rent bikes. It comes in handy because that’s the best way to get around the island. And I do mean AROUND the island. Yep, bikes are great for back and forth running here and there, but what many people don’t do is take the time (doesn’t take that long, it’s only approximately 8 miles) to ride their bikes around the island. You will LOVE IT! The back of the island is very quiet and peaceful, the scenery is unreal. So take some time to enjoy the view!!

I know “Red sky in the morning – sailors take warning, red sky at night – sailors delight” but what is a pink sky? Beauty! That’s what! This photo was taken several years ago when we spent Thanksgiving at Amelia Island in Florida. The weather was perfect, the meals were to die for, the accommodations… HEAVEN and the sunrise on the beach each morning… WORTH. GETTING. UP. FOR! You can see the silhouette of the big Christmas tree to the right, can you believe that’s just around the corner?! Eek!

I love geraniums. They have a way of making something drab come alive. I especially love this salmon color, something a tad different from the typical red. This shot was taken on the way to the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI. My mom, sister and I were there for a little R&R in between my mom finishing chemo (YAY!) and beginning radiation… We had the best time ever. We spent a few hours at the Grand Hotel and had so much fun! Bring your camera with you to the island, there are so many photos to be had. It’s difficult for me to focus when there’s so much to photograph, ha ha…
